About us:
About Us
Based in Harpenden, Nannies 4 Grannies was founded in 2014 by Kay Naden and Shelley Kainth. Having experienced first-hand the challenges of balancing busy lives, careers and family commitments while supporting loved ones, they recognised the need for a reliable, local service that families could trust.
Our aim is to provide home help, companionship and practical support that enables older adults to continue living independently and comfortably in their own homes. At the same time, we offer reassurance to family and friends, knowing that their loved one has a friendly local Nanny they can rely on.
We are proud to have supported hundreds of clients across Harpenden, St Albans, London Colney, Radlett, Shenley, and the surrounding villages. Each month, we welcome new clients through personal recommendations, referrals from healthcare professionals, social prescribers, dementia charities and Adult Social Care teams. The trust that families and professionals place in us is something we value greatly. Read what our clients have to say about us.
Over the years, our team has grown to include more than 25 dedicated local Nannies, supported by Frankie and Mandy, who oversee the day-to-day running of the service and ensure both clients and Nannies receive the support they need.
All of our Nannies are local to the communities we serve and hold Enhanced DBS certificates. Before supporting clients, they complete training in key areas including safeguarding, health and safety, dementia awareness and manual handling. We carefully select our Nannies not only for their experience, but also for their warmth, kindness and genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others. What we do
We step in where family and friends can’t to ensure that our clients remain safe and happy in their own environment for as long as they can.
We work with you to create a support plan that suits you. The support you need may well evolve over time and the support plan is adapted accordingly.
Our core services in the home are companionship, light housework, meal preparation and laundry. If you just want a cup of tea and a chat over a board game or a jigsaw, that is fine too.
Outside the home, we can run errands or organise appointments with doctors, opticians, hairdressers and accompany you to them if you wish. If you feel like a change of scenery, we can take you on outings; or we can keep you company if a loved one wants to go out for a while.
Most of our clients want a long term relationship but we are able to provide short term respite help if you are recovering after a hospital stay or are away on holiday and would like a check-in service for a loved one.
As we strongly believe that companionship is as important as chores, all our visits are a minimum of one hour so we have enough time to get to know and spend time with you.
Our nannies will arrive in casual but smart clothes, wearing their ID badge so you know who they are, and that they are part of our team. If you are ever in doubt, please call the office on 01582 764305.
All our Nannies are dementia aware and trained to deal with the additional challenges some of our clients face in their later years.
